1 Lb. Caramels
1- 5 oz. can Evaporated Milk
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) Butter
1 (2-layer) pkg. German Chocolate Cake Mix
2 cups (12 oz) Chocolate Chips
1 cup Pecans (Chopped)
Melt caramels with 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in a saucepan. Melt the butter in another saucepan. Combine the butter, cake mix, remaining evaporated milk, and pecans in a bowl and mix well. Spoon half of the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350F for 5-10 minutes.
Remove from oven and top with the chocolate chips and the caramel mixture. Pour the remaining batter over the caramel mixture. Bake for 20 minutes longer. Cut into bars.
Makes 24 brownies.
